WRT FANTASY BASKETBALL 12/13 - DONE!!!

Right! as Ballerz and TMC rightly have pointed out, it is that time of year again where we should start thinking about fantasy basketball!!! :rock: artydance:

Didnt realise it had come around that quick to be honest, so perhaps we should think about starting a board draft on September 30th?

Really hope we can have a league this year, as not having one last year was really disappointing if Im honest............damn, if we cannot get say 10 teams out of a basketball forum then what are we!? :?

So, under the threat of extreme violence and signing you all up to Scientology junk mail barrages if you do not sign up.................whos in?

Ohh, I also assume we are going to scrap the keeper status we had for the last league we did, as well as draft position dictated by final league standings, as there is obviously so much change in terms of who is managing teams.............might as well just start a fresh?

Ok everyone, set up the league and tinkered with some settings a little..............so sign up and let me know what you think.

Nothing major, stat cats are the standard 9..............at the moment its set to 6 playoff teams but obviously if we can get 12, then will change that to 8 (think having 8 playoff spots in a 10 team league is a little crazy).

Made the rosters a big bigger, with the positions at = PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, UTIL, UTIL, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN.............slightly different to our old ones, where we had 3 utility spots but only 3 bench spots.

Reason behind that, I think having more bench spots in fantasy basketball makes it more strategic, as its not just about throwing in your best team and leaving it (some may not like that).

Max 50 moves per season and 6 per week is new..............so to stop waiver wire spamming, especially come playoff time.

Cant think of anything else Ive messed with our changed, let me know what you guys think and we can sort it out but wanted to get a start on it.

Sounds good, Bigs.

But, just wondering, but if you want to make it more strategic, why not reduce the number of positions available? I mean, maybe don't use the UTIL spots, or reduce accordingly the non-defined G/F, or maybe just one C... but the more positions in play, the less strategic it gets, because you can use more players and don't have to choose between them.

Just an idea, tho. I'm perfectly fine with the current settings. But I think I'd like to play in one fantasy league that "resembles" real life one of these years. Maybe something like PG, SG, ,SF, PF, C, UTIL, UTIL, BN, BN, BN, with a dramatically reduced number of moves (around 15 sounds right) per season to avoid too many changes.

That might be a huge change for our league, so we better stay with the settings you posted, Bigs. But I'm thinking I might have a league like that one next year, once I have more free time and can organize one. I think it could be really fun if done properly.
