I can't stand either of those fighters. They are both pricks. The UFC needs to get more striking talent in the heavy weight division, and yes I know Brown Power won by striking, but I mean that they need true strikers that can avoid the takedown instead of wrestlers that do some striking.

The good old days of Pride with guys like Fedor and Old Cro-Cop were much more entertaining. I just can't stomach shelling out $40.00 to watch wrestling.

hmm, this might get to be a dangerous topic.

I think there is a big difference here.

Phrases like White Pride and White Power have a different connotation because they are typically used as mantra's for organizations that spread hate and seek to destroy non white races. Where on the flip side I have more seen phrases like "Brown Pride" used as a source of pride of your heritage and where you came from.

To me I just dont think it is as simple as saying this is reverse racism. It is NOT the phrase, it is the connotation. And to me, each carry a completely different one.

Brown Pride is a common phrase that is on shirts, and tatoo'd on many mexicans, and mexican-americans. The difference in white pride/power and brown pride, is typically brown pride doesn't involve attacking other people because of their race. Brown Pride is mostly used with Mexican Americans as well, mainly because you're an american but don't want to neglect your mexican roots. Its a symbol to show where you and your family came from. To show the struggle, such as his father who worked in the field to give him an opportunity to do what he does. From what i hear, Cain is a very quiet and classy guy.

I just watched the fight from start to finish, i had only seen the finishing sequence prior. Wow, Cain is so technically sound. Lesnars technique has always been, bull rush, takedown, and ground and pound to victory. Twice , Lesnar had takedowns and Cain got up without taking any damage. He had picture perfect escape technique. Then he flipped it on brock and just destroyed him .That was a beautiful performance.

I can't agree with the quality there Chum. Fedor is good, but he doesn't fight anybody. Cro Crop is hit or miss, sure he has devastating kicks, but the guy loses as much as he wins. I like the MMA talent out there now. Granted, i usually catch UFC mainly,so i'm sure i'm missing out on a lot of other fighters. But the overall spectrum of talent is amazing.

blah blah blah it's ok for mexicans but not whites blah blah blah only white people are racists

It's a ridiculous double standard. The most violent gang in world right now, MS13, wears Brown Pride tats, and several mexican or mexican-american gangs use Brown Pride in their name. These are racist gangs who most definitely are involved in attacking other people because of their race.

Cain and his people will try to put a nice PC spin on his tat, but it's a racist tat however you want to spin it.

Just googled this (link: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/6/8/903 ... -velasquez) ...

What a crock. "I wanted people to know I was Mexican and that I was doing good things with my life."     He didn't get a Mexican Pride tattoo, he got a gigantic Brown Pride tat that is worn by racist gang bangers.

sure those gangs do have those. And i don't agree with them, i'm not for gang bangers at all. but not everybody who sports brown pride is a gang banger. However, i'm not sure i've seen people show "white pride" as a symbol of pride, but more as a symbol of hate. Correct me if i'm wrong here Chum, i just haven't seen it. Being mexican as i am, i've seen more people where brown pride that aren't gang members, and sadly, on top of that, even most gang bangers that use brown pride don't even attack other races!!!! So it honestly isn't racist in my opinion.

Another thing, if a fighter showed up with a white pride tattoo carried himself with class and showed that he wasn't a racist, it wouldn't bother me. The only issue here chum is that you assumed he's a racist because you saw the tattoo. So apparently Velasquez is an MS13 member because of his tattoo? his family moved to Yuma from Salinas to avoid gangs, so i don't think you understand yet buddy.

The best thing about this "discussion"............is this quote from that link Chum just posted =

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

You guys know I love the "big" debates and arguments, so Ill come a little here if you dont mind.

First.............if I walked down the street and saw a guy with "Brown Pride" tatooed on him somewhere, I would probably think = "What a prick, double standard douche".

However, if I was to challenge him about it (which I wouldnt do to this guy of course. :? ) and he told me something like that explanation (and the one that Rob said about) then I would UNDERSTAND it and know that it wasnt about a direct play/retaliation on the negative conotations of seeing "White Pride".

So coming from that new, informed perspective...........I wouldnt think ill of the guy until I actually saw or heard him saying anything even remotely racist, that would make the sporting of a slogan comparable to those evil c*nts that sport "White Pride".

So as it stands, with him saying what he is.............and the high amount of people who get the tatoo simply in support of their heritage (Im sure the number of those who have it, who arent making a racial statement far out weighs those that are)..............then you just cant assume hes being a racist asshole about it.

He was known as a wrestler first coming in, but his striking has really improved to the point that it's a dangerous weapon in his arsenal. Lesnar had 20+ more pounds on Cain, but his wrestling was able to get him out of situations that could've gone sour. I've always been on the Velasquez train since I first heard of him about 4-5 fights ago.

The heavyweight division is stacked with fighters. Just wait 'til Junior dos Santos and Cain fight... that's going to be an amazing fight.

You're right Rob. I don't understand how it's ok have a Brown Pride tat but not a White Pride tat. To me they are both conveying the same message to someone who sees it, that their "race" is somehow better than others.

I'm not buying Cain's explanation and I'm not buying your justification.
