I've been taking a look for a thread like this, not to discuss shows at length but simply to post recommendations of new and/or old shows that aren't big enough to have their own thread. There's one from a few years back, but it was more about movies and shows in general, not exactly to recommend new shows.

Let's start with the two I consider the best European shows right now:

Gomorrah. Depicts the life in Naples as part of one of the Camorra clans. Tries to be as real as possible, and, at times, it can be quite hard to endure. Not for the faint of heart. Then again, if you are a fan of The Wire, you're going to love this one. Fours seasons already, consistently great.

Dark. German series that's perfect for lovers of sci-fi and dense, thoughtful and complex plots. Two seasons already with a final third on the way to close the story.

Dark is definitely on Netflix and I think Gomorrah is also available on Netflix in the USA. None of them are particularly obscure, so you might have heard about them already, or even watched both. But definitely great shows and well worth your time.

If you like this kind of thread, I can add some new shows from time to time. We're in the middle of a golden age for TV shows, and sometimes it's hard to separate the great from the merely good. I'll try to post a well-known comparison for any show I post just to help everybody have a clear idea of the kind of show it is, but it won't always be possible.

I thought the first season of Carnival Row on Amazon Prime was pretty good. Hard to go wrong with fairy whore houses ;)

Watched just the pilot. I enjoyed it, but wasn't that impressed... not enough to have a formed opinion about it, tho. I will give it a chance once I have more time.

I think the next season is setup well. Should be interesting. First season is kinda slow, but hard to turn down fairy orgasms lol.

Just started the new season of Peaky Blinders.. that show is addicting.

I just watched “The Kingmaker” on SHOWTIME. I honestly don’t know much about the political history in the Philippines and how it plays out today. My knowledge goes as far as just knowing names but that’s it and so watching it made me nearly flip out.

I haven't had much time to watch anything. Our government is changing protocols every few hours, so I'm working even on weekends. But I really hope the last couple of days have been the worst in terms of work and now I can have some free time to... I don't know, have a "normal quarantine" instead of staying all day glued to my phone.

I'm basically following Westworld and watching The Valhalla Murders on Netflix. Not much time for anything else yet... both are good. I'm enjoying this season of Westworld more than the second one.

The Valhalla Murders is an alright crime show, good but not great, well filmed and very entertaining if that's what you look for. Kinda like the Bucs offense.

I've been watching Hunters with Al Pacino on prime. Also, Ozark on Netflix.
To keep it light I'll watch Nora From Queens staring Awkwafina... she's hilarious.
or Up Schitt's Creek. or some standup comedy.
Without sports, I often land on HGTV and watch any number of the shows they have about renovating and resale of homes, or
Love it or List it, Flip it or flop, or I won the lottery, help me buy a house, Caribbean home search. etc etc..

Awkwafina is great. Have you see “The Farewell” on Amazon Prime? A little more serious tone, but she had very solid performance.

Really looking forward to “The Last Dance” to drop. Kobe is my era’s MJ, so any MJ content is a must for me. Especially with all the behind the scenes we will get to see. ESPN moved it up from June to April.

Any fans of Bleacher Report’s “Game of Zones?” The final season started last week and it is the perfect storyline to end this series. You can catch it on YouTube.

For those that do not shy away from very explicit violence, Gangs of London is a great show. Just a very violent one. Just saying...
