From ESPN.com: Well, certainly is strange hearing that one of the top ten players (top five even) wants to play for yours truly. If I was Minnesota, GSW is a team that might not give up draft picks for future building, but the Barnes and Lee package is still very very enticing. Barnes will get a chance to play freely and no longer as a fifth option, and Lee will remain Lee. Draft picks have a risk factor associated with them that assets like Barnes don't. Another note, Klay is now clearly more important to the FO (as he should be) then Barnes. It's really a shame, because I still think he has heavy potential in the league and really wish for him to succeed. One part of me want Iguodala and his bad contract to go instead of Barnes, but I don't think that's even at option this early in his years with us. Either way, Chum, your dreams are within grasp!
I am not behind the Kevin Love dream. He is a fantastic offensive player and rebounder, but plays no defense. He is no better than Lee on the defensive side IMO. A max deal for Love would be a mistake for the Warriors. We need a real strong power forward who can guard guy's like Griffin to advance to the next level.
YES!!! I knew Love would want to come here if he thought we were going to run a Triangle offense!!! Curry + Thompson + Love + Triangleish Offense = CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER TEAM BABY!!!         artydance: artydance: artydance: :tks: :tks: :tks: opcorn: opcorn: opcorn: :warriors: :warriors: :warriors: :rimshot: :rimshot: :rimshot: :rasta :rasta :rasta
I read elsewhere we're adding Klay to the Lee for Love deal. I don't like Klay going so I'm glad it's going to be Barnes. He's getting stifled in our setup. Klay tho is already finding his way around our system and can get his own shot and defend who he has to.
Dude, Chum you better trademark "Triangleish offense" before we win the championship and it becomes a household term.
Really? Well Barnes is just a sophomore and Klay went through a similar phase. But even in his slump, Klay still had a few huge games. Whereas Barnes had a few decent games. But if Barnes finds his confidence, dude will be dangerous. On the fence now. Lol
I would not trade Klay. Don't you guy's think we need a more defensive minded power forward? This team already scores enough points. I really do like Kevin Love, but he is a terrible defender, and I just do not think he is the answer to get this team to the finals.
I like Love, but in the triangle, if that is the offense we run....will he be that much better than Lee? We have our 2 passing bigs, 2 guys that spread the floor and Iguodala should have free run in the lane. The cost of Kevin Love will be so high....I just dont know if he will be worth it. And another point, Minnesota has no reason to trade him 'till near the trade deadline next season...when they would get the most value. All we can offer is Lee (doubt they want him at his salary) and Barnes. The FO has said they are keeping Klay, so I think he may be off the table. We have no draft picks to throw in either. So it is awesome that an all star wants to play here, but getting him here is no easy task.
Hip me to why Love is significantly more than an upgrade from Lee. I see his 3s, age , and more athleticism as upgrades compared to Lee but what makes the huge difference?
Yeah, I am curios as well. Love will get a max deal, Klay will want 12-15 mill an season. Steph will be a max contact player in 3 years. Leaves no money for the rest of the team. And I don't see Love as a huge difference from Lee either. He gets you 6 more points and 3 rebounds a game. Not much better of a defender, and Griffen will continue to destroy us in the paint.
I like Love but when the Dubs played Minnesota, all I can think of he is as bad on defense as Lee is. So where is the huge upgrade? I think he's physically stronger and may be better 1 on 1 against bigs, but I don't see enough to lose Lee and Klay. Lee and Barnes I'd do.
Imagine Love Curry Klay on the perimeter. ..raining 3s. Bogut/Igoudala free to catch lobs or drive to the lane. Love's improvement over Lee is slight but today, slight could mean the game.
