My God that was one hell of a fight. Sonnen had that fight... he won the first 3 rounds, at least in my book. But this is why Silva is one of the best, if not the best... you make one mistake against the guy, and it's over. I mean, Sonnen got some good hits in... he did a nice job controlling the ground, getting himself out of situations. But one mistake and it cost him... 23 minutes down the drain. He should be proud, though... he gave the champ a run for his money. Silva has an AMAZING chin.

    epic fight...

Sonnen won the first 4 rounds...Sonnen was dominant...He controlled the fight... Landing a lot of big shots and was just beating Silva up... Sonnen was doing exactly what he said he was going to do...

I still cant believe Silva pulled that submission off... Truly, amazing...

    epic fight...

Out of all the fights, you miss THIS one?! This was the one to watch, especially with all the smack talk. One thing for sure is that Sonnen backs up his talk. He doesn't back down.

Next up for Silva? Vitor Belfort most likely. After that, we could see either a rematch against Sonnen, a move up to the 205 pound division, or a megafight against GSP.

Personally, I'd like to see him move up to the light heavyweight division if and when he beats Belfort. If not, take a megafight against GSP. Although, I doubt that could happen. GSP has to go through Koscheck, whom he should handle just fine. Then he has Jon Fitch. After that, Jake Shields. I don't think we'll be seeing a GSP/Silva megafight anytime soon. Which is fine... as long as Silva moves up.

I think there should first be a rematch between Sonnen and Silva. Sonnen was clearly dominating the fight and then got stupid in the last round. He stopped playing his game and basically served himself up to Silva on a silver platter. I mean, you already have the fight won on the cards (dominating all 4 rounds), why would you posture up in a half guard AND leave your arm wide open to keep Silva down? If he would have stayed leaning on him with his body, there would have easily been a new champ.

kinda off topic, but not at the same time but... How about that Matt Hughes chokeout though? From a front headlock? Impressive!

Very true. But remember, Belfort was in line to fight, but he got injured. And he's ready whenever Silva is. Silva and Sonnen both went to the hospital, so who knows how long they'll be out. Silva was fighting with a rib injury that his doctors in Brazil advised him to drop the fight. Sonnen is a bloody mess face wise, so who knows?

If Silva is healed before Sonnen, he'll fight Belfort. If he beats Belfort, he'll get Sonnen again.

Silva finally got what he wanted - a real fight. Man he took some big hits. Didn't realise he had that sorta chin

Reminded me of the Lesnar fight in that sense

Good comparison. Totally forgot about Lesnar's fight. He got exposed, then Lesnar took it.

This is good for both fighters, though. A little vulnerability could go a long ways for these two. I know Lesnar has already lost when he got caught by Mir's BJJ, but he never got hit the way he did against Carwin. Same for Silva. It's just a wake up call that they're still human.
