It can get interesting if Lacob offers him a max extension for 4 or 5 years... would he reject it at this point, not knowing how great he's going to be when he comes back?

We've got some experience with that already, as Curry was playing with a cheap deal for years due to the constant ankle injuries that he went through during his rookie deal. Might be time to test our luck with a long term deal for KD... As long as we have KD, Steph, Klay and Dray under contract, this team is not only a contender, but the team to beat. Even if KD comes back at 80% of the player he was, he still will be a top player in the league.

He might not want to sign that, but it's worth trying, imho.

    From KD today:

What’s good everybody I wanted to update you all: I did rupture my Achilles. Surgery was today and it was a success, EASY MONEY

My road back starts now! I got my family and my loved ones by my side and we truly appreciate all the messages and support people have sent our way.

Like I said Monday, I'm hurting deeply, but I'm OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three peat.

Its just the way things go in this game and I'm proud that I gave it all I physically could, and I'm proud my brothers got the W.
It's going to be a journey but I'm built for this. I’m a hooper
I know my brothers can get this Game 6, and I will be cheering with dub nation while they do it.

His tone has sure changed recently... even before the initial injury. Maybe even just before the playoffs

But it just seems like he changed publicists, or who he's talking to before he posts on social media because he seems lighter, more positive.
I like that KD. Save the nasty side for the court.

He's got a weird body. For all his length, he puts a lot of stress on his legs/knees/ankles. As does any basketball player.
But I find myself worried for him often out there with his skinny legs and all...and sometimes awkward twists and falls.
As he ages and as he recovers from this surgery, he may want to look at safer ways to land, and more efficient ways to score. He's not 17 anymore.

On the positive side, Mychal Thompson just said that there's "no question" his son Klay is going to re-sign with the Warriors.

I know we all were expecting it, but it's nice to hear it from someone with "inside" knowledge.

Just thinking about next year, and how do they stay competitive.
Hard to say who's out there at vet minimum or the mid level.
I'm fine with Cousins bailing but only if we have some other veteran presence at the 5. Looney, Jones, and Bell..is too thin.
We need one BIG man who can set screens, grab rebounds, block shots, get put backs and pass!

If Livingston stays, use him wisely. Set him up for his post up turnaround j when the match up is good, he could easily hit 6 of those a game.

Draymond and Igoudala both need to improve their 3pt shot.
They can create their own "load management" by hittin they shots and sitting down for the last 18 mins of regular season games.
Igoudala has improved a bit, but he got cold for 2-3 games there during the Finals.
For Draymond its just a matter of fact. Teams leave him wide open at the 3pt line all the time, and he needs to make them pay, at least 33% of the time.
It also would help him to develop a little dribble, take two steps, and hit a 2pt shot move. He'll draw the defender out and can quickly shoot, drive or pass.
With Klay and KD out. They will need solid production from both of those guys to get to a minimum of 50 wins.

I really detest the sloppy way they play sometimes. They used to be able to overwhelm teams with that super fast paced, homerun ball, but they will not be able to get away with that for much longer as they age and other teams catch up. We cannot "out talent" a growing number of teams in this league, maybe 4-5. It will be a much smaller margin of error. Kerr will need to set the tone early, stick to things that work, don't try to reinvent the wheel, play defense.
Yeah, injuries were ultimately the death blow for them in this finals, but their bad habits contributed to most of their losses.

well, and the damn free throws in that last game...

I'd say Bell is gone as well.

Looney is a free agent, we'll see what kind of market he has, but he has played pretty well. I'm not sure we're gonna be able to keep him. Keep in mind it's his first chance to sign a good NBA deal... I think our new center has to come via the draft. Jones will start, but we need someone else, and I think the draft is the route for that.

I really, really hope Jacobs can improve next year and do more than he did this year. Curry's gonna need help in the backcourt. Might even have to start a few games with Klay out for so long.
