Harden is receiving a ton of praise this year, and he's having a great year scoring wise. He is definitely a talented player, hell, he never really has to face contested shots, because of how much space he creates and the threat of a foul.

Sports media is gushing over this guy as if this year is the greatest offensive year in NBA history. Is this just the nature of the media these days? Everybody is scared to be labeled a "hater" if they don't give credit to the guy. He is throwing up some awful percentages. And i get that Paul has been out, and their offensive talent is lacking.. but the guy travels and chucks the ball all over the court, and everybody is damn near in love with him.

True. It's also a byproduct of his era. Harden in the 90s would have been a great player, but his numbers wouldn't have been close to today's.

But he's the true outlier in his own era. I would say these days, maybe defined by Steph and KD types is that efficiency is the target. Though i know getting to the free throw line is considered valuable, i never thought it was a defining ability of a great player (See: Corey Magette ; player that can get to the line, but would never be considered great).

Harden seems to do things that would be deemed ineffective by most other players, yet he is consistently lauded for the numbers he puts up.

The frustrating thing is you know exactly what he's going to do every time, and yet, he still scores and gets to the line. He takes advantage of the niche in the rule book like an artist. Its annoying as hell too. Loved when we played them last time because it looked like EVERYONE got the memo, keep him from going left!! They didn't stop him but man they were forcing him to the right a lot.
If you keep Harden below 35 points, you did a pretty good job defending him.

Also, he will take crazy shots and big shots, like the one he hit over Klay and Dray.. and when he makes it, he talks trash. If he misses, it seems like he doesn't care haha, and i think that drives fans man. You want to see your hated players sulking and pissed off.. not so indifferent.

Annoying? Watching him try to play defense is annoying, particularly for Houston fans... And when he tries, he can be somewhat efficient. He just doesn't even try.
