    Hey everybody!

So I am starting up something new on another website and I thought that I would extend an offer to anybody else here who would like to join up!

Basically what I am doing is attempting to create a working simulation of the NBA using the video game NBA 2k12 and users on the forum operationsports.com. I am having each person who wants to participate sign up and pick a team to make management decisions for. It's essentially like running a fantasy team, a each player will negotiate contracts with player agents, discuss trades with rival GMs, draft amateur players and manage finances. Sounds a bit time consuming I suppose but it should be too crazy for anybody but me (I am acting as a sort of commissioner).

Anyway this may seem a little ridiculous to some ;) but I promise that it will be a lot of fun! I really like everybody here and I respect your basketball knowledge so I wanted to throw out an open invitation to anybody who wanted to sign up!

    Cheers! :chug:

More info would be nice, Tarantism. How is it going to run? Simulated games only after the transactions and signings are done? That is... will only be a management simulation? Will it reflect real life, updated rosters or use 2k12 initial ones?

Sounds like a good idea and color me interested alredy... but I want to know a bit more first, mate.

    Thanks for the reply man!

The rosters will be up to date for as soon as I can finish getting everything ready. The first season will be the 2012-2013 season, and we will starting by having a sort of Summer League, followed by training camp and preseason. Every offseason move up until the official start date will be added and then you will take over the team from that point on.

I am very excited to do this. Just a note, the Warriors are still available for anybody who is interested. Also, a lot more info can be found in this thread over on Operations Sports, the hub which I will be running this project out of: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/b ... ation.html. So far I have 10 slots occupied, with only two of those being western conference teams.

I will happily answer any other questions here as well.

Cool. Thanks for the link. Don't have time right now, but I'll be sure to take a look first thing tomorrow, Tarantism.

I've read the whole thread you linked and even downloaded the primer you made and read a good chunk of it. First thing I gotta say is that it's a ton of work for you, Tarantism, and you're gotta be praised for taking over somethingso ambitious.

And, after reading it all, I gotta say that, even tho I'd love to join, I think I'm gonna have to pass. I'm not gonna be around much for a few months at the end of the year, as I'm getting transferred to another town, and I don't think I'll be able to cope with everything a league like this involves. I think I can manage a fantasy league in which I have to set up the lineups for the week, but not something that will involve PMs, trade proposals, 3-game contracts and such. I think it's too much for this year.

I'd love to do it some other time, tho, when I'm more settled. Maybe after this upcoming season, if there's a spot that open because somebody leaves or something like that, then I could step up and take over that one.

    Thanks anyway, mate!

:D well, it's like I said in the other thread...it only needs to be as complex as you make it. But the main reason that I included everything is because a) that's the way that I like to do things and b) I didn't want anybody to be limited if they really decided to get into it.

It's filling up as well as I could have hoped. I put up that post to start getting signups just two days ago and I already have the league nearly half full.

Yeah, that's something that I can definitely understand. I have spent a lot of time getting this set up and it's certainly ambitious. I just hope it works out because I would hate to suddenly not have time to run it and let everybody who signed up for it down.

Just let me know if you ever want to give it a shot and I will get you in, absolutely.

Next year should be different. It's just that I won't have much of a chance to participate for a couple of months at the end of this one, but if there's an opening after the season, just let me know.

If all teams do not get filled by the time I get this started (likely) would it be OK for me to ping ideas off of you guys using this thread? I will need to take control of any teams that are not controlled by the time that we start and I worry about the conflict of interest. I like to think that I will stay neutral, but I would love to be able to throw things at the wall over here to double check that i am being fair.

Ahh, you know what...............fantasy sports is one of the few joys I have in life...............so balls to it! Ill take our boys please!

I shall have another read and digest some more, join up that forum place as well and see whats up there.

One condition though Tarantism! dont know whether you have noticed in the football thread but we may be able to make a spot for you on that..............but need to know that you will be committed to it after you were a bit flaky before man and the first season I did it you didnt touch your team all year after the draft.
