So the Falcons are cleaning house. Not sure what happened to that team, they certainly don't deserve to be 0-5, but they've been bad basically since they lost the SB to the Pats.

And they have talent on that team. Ryan, Julio, Ridley, Gurley, the o-line is not great, but it's not a disaster, they have good players on defense, too (like Deion Jones, Keanu Neal or Grady Jarrett). It's so weird how they've gone from good to terrible...

And now Raheem Morris gets his second chance in the NFL. He fumbled his chance in Tampa because he was a players' coach, and had one good season but wasn't able to lead the team the next season because players thought of him as another guy on the team and lost the team by half-season. I like him a lot, tho. I hope he has learned his lessons and is able to improve the Falcons and remove the "interim" tag from his job description next year.

It’s not like they were getting blown out either. They were blowing leads, yes. But it wasn’t like they weren’t competitive. Still... EOD, winning or losing makes or breaks jobs. And someone (or some people in this case) had to fall.

Quick thoughts about the Bucs game:

    - Weird game. Green Bay up 10-0, then we score 38 uncontested points. Against Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers hates the RayJay, for some reason, nothing good ever happens to him there.

    - The defense started slow, but had a heck of a game. They got to Rodgers, deflected passes, had two INTs (one a pick six)... Didn't even miss Vea, and I didn't think that was possible (just one game, tho). We kept Green Bay to 3.3 yards per play. That's huge.

    - Brady had another weird game. Great first half, 3-11 with no TDs in the second. Of course, playcalling decided to rely on RoJo, but still... it was weird to see him play so different in both halves.

    - RoJo is among the best RBs in the game right now. Third straight game over 100 yards, 2 TDs. I guess everybody expected him to improve, but never to become such a good weapon. One of the reasons our offense is different this year. Ke'Shawn Vaughn had been running like shit so far, but he had a good game, including one run of 19 yards.

    - The Bucs had ZERO penalties in the game. ZERO. When was the last time this happened? Who the f*ck knows...

    - Gronk stepped up and became the main passing target in the game. Godwin was finally back. Evans is still injured and playing through it. Tyler Johnson had his first pro TD. The passing game has all the depth it needs, and hopefully Evans will get healthy over the next few weeks. Meanwhile, it's great to have options.

    - Lavonte David/Devin White/JPP is among the best LB corps in the game. And don't forget to add Shaq Barrett to that unit. We do not have any depth, so injuries will be key, but if we stay healthy, that's a heck of a unit.

    - We've traded for Steve McLendon, sending a 2022 6th round pick for McLendon and a 2023 seventh-round pick to the Jets. He's a vet that knows Bowles system and should get a chance to help try to ease the impact of Vea's injury.

So far, so good. Can't wait for next game!!!

    So... we've added Antonio Brown.

As good a receiver as he is, please, tell me WHY THE F*CK DO WE NEED A HEADCASE LIKE HIM?!?!?!?!?!

I mean, this is a team that already has Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and Gronk and Brate and Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson, who are young and improving. Why the f*ck do we need to use the little money we had available on another WR, particularly one that comes with all the baggage of Antonio Brown? Even Arians called him a diva a few months back and said he wasn't a good fit.

Word out of Tampa is Brady is the one that wanted him, and the team is set on increasing Brady's window and keep him happy. Guess he's going to be a good addition while Evans gets healthy (Godwin is supposedly healthy already, although I'm not so sure, doesn't look like the Godwin of last season, maybe he needs to get back in playing shape after his injuries, I don't know), but with the whole roster of WRs available, I'm pretty sure he's going to be a headache. We'll see what happens on week 12 if everybody is healthy and Brown gets maybe a couple of targets per game. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't trust this signing.

Picking up Antonio Brown seems like a bad call, however I think if anyone can keep Antonio motivated, it would be Tom Brady.

Agreed, AB is a jerk, and not worth the headaches he will create. I bet this experiment lasts just 1 or 2 games.

Basically, they want to have some kind of insurance until Godwin and Evans are back in shape, and Brady insisted on that signing being AB. Hope we don't regret this signing.

I trust Arians in that regard, tho. I don't think he's willing to cope with ABs antics just for the sake of keeping Brady happy. If AB becomes a problem, I think Arians will take him out of the team and he'll be released.

Ok, quick notes about the Raiders game:

    - Brady was great. 5 TDs, one of them rushing. No INTs. His arm strength is still there. Threw to multiple receivers to keep the Raiders D from collapsing in a few.

    - RoJo didn't have great numbers, but that's because Fournette was finally healthy. Still made a few good runs in the first half and added a TD. Fournette did well, too.

    - Chris Godwin looks mostly healthy again, and we really needed that. Mike Evans is still injured and playing on one leg. If AB gets the system fast, I think we should rest Evans a couple of weeks, give him time to recover and get him ready for the playoffs. Our young kids are doing a good job, tho. Scotty Miller's taken a step forward this season and is looking like a valuable weapon with his speed, Tyler Johnson has great hands and got his second TD. Gronk has become his old self and the team is not missing OJ Howard (well, at least in the passing game, Howard was great blocking, too, and while Gronk can block, neither Brate nor Hudson can do it).

    - The O-Line played a good game and didn't allow a single sack for the second straight game. They've improved enormously since the beginning of the season. And Wirfs is looking like he's going to be an all-pro for a long time.

    - Penalties... we had a few, particularly in the second half, but a manageable number. It wasn't the circus it was at the start of the season.

    - Let's go with the defense, the real gem (well, them and Brady) of this team: this game was the 13th straight game that the Bucs don't allow 100 yards rushing. That's a key stat to this defense.

    - Steve McLendon's first game as a Bucs couldn't have been better. 5 tackles, one for loss. Very active, particularly in the first half.

    - Devin White had another monster game with 11 tackles and 3 sacks. He's becoming the real heart and soul of this defense and makes a tremendous pair with Lavonte David.

    - Antoine Winfield Jr. got his first career INT. He's been up and down during the season, a few great games, a few more when you barely notice he's playing. But, for the most part, he's been an improvement at the safety spot. His INT that led to a TD was big in this game, tho.

I like what the Raiders are building, tho. They're on the right track, although still need a few more pieces and to develop their young kids. But they played us closer for a good part of the game, and not many teams have been able to do so when our offense has been healthy.

Next week we should be 6-2, as our next game is on the road, but at New York vs the Giants. And we should have won at Chicago. So far, I couldn't be happier with the way the season is going. Still not sure if we can consider ourselves a SB contender, but it's looking like this team can be pretty dangerous as long as we stay healthy and our defense keeps playing like this.

Very nice performance by the Bucs. They definitely proved that they are a playoff team.

The Raiders defense is terrible, no pass rush whatsoever. TB12 had all day to pick apart the D.

Still crazy that Gruden traded Khalil Mack for Josh Jacobs, Blessaun Austin, Damon Arnette and Bryan Edwards (and I guess Clelin Ferrell because trading Mack put them in a position to draft him). Jacobs has been impressive... but that Mack trade will forever haunt them. Carr gets a lot of crap... and I've been part of that group, but that defense will never stop anyone.

Sorry to hijack, TMC. It's just fun to watch Mack go... and crazy that the Raiders had him and let him go and still watch their defense struggle to this day.

I love watching Khalil Mack play and also think it was a huge mistake to make that deal for the Raiders. Pass rushers are a premium kind of player, not as valuable as a good QB, but probably the second most valuable position in football.

In short, I approve of this hijack.

AB won't be available for this week's game vs the Giants (still suspended) and, while he's working out with the team's staff, he's not going to be allowed to practice with the rest of the roster til next Tuesday.

It matters because Evans is still playing on one leg and Godwin, who looked mostly healthy last game, might miss this week's game after having surgery yesterday for a broken finger at the end of the Raiders game. The team is not saying he's out, but I can't see him playing on Monday with less than a week since the surgery.

I have Godwin on my Fantasy team (terrible pick...I hate him!). Our website says he is out this weekend, and will likely miss multiple games.

Arians says he's not ruled out for Monday's game, but likely won't be available.

But I don't think it's going to be a long absence.

Very quick notes about the Bucs game, and I haven't seen this one, just highlights, as always when we don't play on Sunday:

    - RoJo had a TERRIBLE fumble that led to the Giants first TD. It was awful and it turned an easy game (on paper) into a tough one that we won narrowly. That fumble was the reason the Giants were 8 points ahead into the break.

    - Not sure why, but seems like the Giants ran vs our defense better than any team I've seen this season.

    - The Giants moved the ball quite easily during the first half. The defense woke up in the second half and NY wasn't able to do much, other than the final TD and a few plays here and there. JPP in particular was great in the second half.

    - Brady had a decent game, and he did it with a pedestrian running game and with Mike Evans still playing injured. Gronk has been very good in the last few games, tho. He's getting back into playing shape quite nicely.

    - Ryan Succop made all four of his FGs. Having a good kicker, for once, has the team in position to win close games. That never happened since... I don't know, Gramatica more than a decade ago?

Glad we won, and we're back to Tampa 6-2. Last time we were 6-2 was during the 2002 season, in which we won the SB. Not saying that's going to happen, just that it's been a loooooong time since we had such a good record.

And we go back to the RayJay to play one of the key games of our remaining schedule, next Sunday vs the Saints. The NFC South title will be on the line.

Quick recap of the Bucs game:

    FUCK!

Slightly less quick recap of the Bucs game:

This shows the difference between a pretender and a contender. In fact, it was a bloodbath. We were never in the game. I can save a few players (Mike Evans, still injured but playing as hard as he possibly could, Devin White, everywhere on defense although he still missed a few tackles, which usually doesn't happen, Shaq Barret had a good game with a sack and a forced fumble... and that's about it).

For starters, the game-plan was terrible. We played too much zone on defense, and Payton and Brees dissected it with ease. The offense couldn't get anything done. The o-line had one of their worst games since the start of the season, and Donovan Smith, once again, couldn't do his job and protect Brady. We couldn't run. Their secondary outplayed our WRs most of the time, taking them out of the game. Brady was awful.

Basically, I think we were outcoached on every level from the get-go, and you can't win a game vs a good NFL team when you're so clearly outcoached.

I still think we make the playoffs, unless injuries keep piling up to our key players. I no longer consider us anything else than pretenders.

Alright, here's Monday's recap of the Bucs game:

    - Nice way to come back after a humiliating defeat at home vs the Stains. We really needed this win.

    - Brady. It's amazing that I'm going to say this, but he had a good game that could have been much better. He missed three open TDs, with passes misdirected or overthrown. And even then, we scored 46 points. Ended up with 1 rushing TD and 3 passing TDs and 341 yards. Go figure...

    - RoJo had his best game as a pro, with two caveats: first, most of his yards came in one play, the 98-yards TD run, and second, he had another fumble. He's the best pure runner on the team, but fumbling remains an issue. As is blocking and his hands in the passing game. But he's having a very good season and almost reached 200 yards rushing yesterday. His TD play was huge to secure this win.

    - The O-line: the team made some adjustments, because we were still without Marpet, our most reliable linemen, that also missed the Saints game. This time, they moved Jensen to LG and starter Shipley at C. And it worked. The run-blocking was fantastic and only allowed a sack in the whole game.

    - Evans is going to break his TD in a season record at this pace. And Godwin looked healthy and back to his old self. AB also played well. Gronk wasn't featured as much in the passing game, but still had two big catches, one for a TD.

    - Ryan Succop had another perfect game in FGs, and missed a XP that wasn't totally his fault. I don't want to hear the "it's just a kicker" line again, once you have a good one, you know how important a kicker is.

    - Overall, our offense was decent the first half, great the second.

    - On defense, Shaq Barrett and JPP had good games. Both ended up with a sack, Barrett added two tackles for loss and JPP had a huge interception in the third quarter.

    - Justin Watson, our 5th WR, had a sack. I'm saying that because you're not gonna see that often. It was a trick play in a punt that didn't fool anybody.

    - The defense seems to have done a good job vs Carolina's running game, but in fact it was more due to the Panthers not running too much. Their averages weren't bad, they just were in a rush and needed to move the chains faster. We're really missing Vea there.

    - I think Kevin Minter was unfairly denied a sack. He was called for roughing the passer and I can't see it no matter how often I see that play. Oh, well...

    - The secondary gave up a big play for DJ Moore, but overall, they did a good job.

    - Devin White and Lavonte David had a quiet, solid game. Didn't show up too much on big plays, but were there to make their tackles.

    - The defense didn't start to play their best til the third quarter. Then, the game was over soon.

Two more things: we beat the Panthers on third downs, 10-16 for Tampa, just 1-9 for Carolina. That was another key to our win. And the team was pretty disciplined in terms of penalties. Good.

Next week, the Rams visit the RayJay. Go Bucs!!!

We've lost because Matt Gay, whom we cut before the season, made a FG with a bit over a minute left on the clock. The most Bucs way to lose there is.

And no, I haven't seen the game, so I can't comment much more.

A.Q. Shipley, the vet we've been starting while Ali Marpet recovers and who had been playing pretty well, seems to not only have sustained an injury. According to Arians, it looks career-ending. F*ck.

Also, I don't know what to think about Arians calling out Brady again in the media. I just don't. Best part is that our schedule is somewhat easy to end the season, but this team has struggled in the spotlight. Playoff football would be a success for the Tampa area, but that's probably not what the team had in mind. They signed Brady to be a contender. We're not. We're a decent to good team, but not a contender.
