Any of you do any daily fantasy football? I am trying FanDuel this year. Entered myself into 5 contests this week. Interested to hear if anyone else doing this?

If you are thinking about joining, use this link for a referral for me. Also if you use promo code "3030" they match whatever you deposit.

It's fantasy football but just for one weekend. So you pick a team against a salary cap and enter it into various contests but it is just for that week only. Then you can pick a new team the following week and so on

Funny enough, I just heard a commercial for it on the radio. Sounds fun ... and tough. Do the salaries of the players fluctuate throughout the season?

Sounds like too much effort...how much $ are you putting down for week 1? And how is this not considered gambling?

Yes, the salaries are different every week. After the games are complete for the week, the site posts new salaries for all the players based on matchups, % owned from previous week, etc.

They have all kinds of different "types" of games. They have tournaments, often called GPP (guaranteed prize pools) where you may be in with 1,000 or more people and the top 20 "cash". These are the games where you can win thousands of $'s. Sometimes up to $200,000 depending on the size and entry fee.

Then they have what they call 50-50's where half the field doubles their money and the other half gets nothing.

They have head to head matchups where you just play against one player and winner doubles up

The strategies are very different between GPP's and 50-50's.

It is a LOT of effort if you want to try and win. I have been working on it once the family goes to bed. I have this crazy spreadsheet that I run all kinds of formulas on based on various data points and projections. but I like that kind of stuff ;)

I deposited $100. For week one I did 5 entries for $19 total. 4 of mine are just the double up kind. Entered 1 GPP

Oh, by the way, on the gambling thing, it is because Fantasy Football has been deemed a game of skill vs a game of chance. Monetary considerations on a game of chance is considered gambling... it is not considered gambling if it is a game of skill. Not sure why they dont consider Poker a game of skill.

As long as the IRS is collecting tax money they are happy. It's the untaxed bookie money they despise.

Well I went 2-3 this week for a return of $12.60 from my $18 so down $5.40. Here's to a better week #2. Have to admit, it was pretty fun though.

At quick glance, he is definitely in play. Comes with a salary of $7,400 (60K total cap). That is 17th out of all QB's this week. Playing Dallas certainly is appealing.

Exactly, the (assumed) low salary and playing against that historically bad defense..............thought it would be a good one to get in and then fill other positions with better players than normal perhaps.

    Good luck.

Well had a much better Week 2. Ended up winning $27.60 this week. My big win was a $5 "Triple Up" where the top 60 out of 200 entries win $15. Finished 27th.

Bigs, I did use Locker on one of my entries and I won. Only a $2 "Double Up". Locker clearly did not help me but finished 8th out of 20th and top 10 double up. Yay! Here was my lineup:
